Contact Lens Exam
During a contact lens exam at Overland Optical Family Eye Care, our expert eye doctors will help you find the right contact lens for your visual needs and lifestyle. Many new contact lenses are available for people with astigmatism, keratoconus, dry eye, and more. Even if you were previously told contact lenses weren’t an option for you, it may be time to try again!
What to expect during a contact lens exam
During your contact lens exam, we’ll check your vision, evaluate your eye health, and carefully measure your eyes to determine the correct size and shape of the lenses you’ll need. Our proficient optometrist will work with you to find the best type of contact lenses for your needs. Our optical experts will also show you how to insert, remove, and take care of your contact lenses.

Contact lens follow-up care
Once we’ve found the right lenses for you, we’ll give you a trial pair to take home and try out for a few days. This will give you a chance to get used to wearing contacts and make sure they feel comfortable. We’ll then schedule a follow-up appointment to make sure that your lenses are working well for you.
Why do I need an exam for contact lenses?
A contact lens prescription is different from an eyeglass prescription because contact lenses sit directly on the eye. Ill-fitting lenses can cause discomfort, blurred vision, or even eye infections. Our friendly, professional optometrist in St. Charles or St. Louis will make sure the lenses fit well and make adjustments if necessary.
